On Jul. 31, 2004, I predicted an earthquake of magnitude more than or equal to 6 in Tonga or neighbor by "?", about 13~16.5S, 170~173.5W, of an geoeruption [1]. On Sept. 3, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 happened at 15.37S, 173.23W, all exact for the prediction [2]. A random guess as the prediction gets a risk less than 1 in 3 to be successful. If satellite data problems were overcome [3], further narrowing an area for an evacuation would be possible. |
